What tax do I pay if I purchase a car?

For used vehicle purchases, you pay 10% buyer's premium and the GST/HST on the final hammer price. When you buy a car in Ontario and transfer the vehicle at the Ministry of Transportation, you just need to show the invoice. However, if they thinks the car worth more than the sale price, you may need to pay extra tax. The MaxSold's GST/HST number is 835321050RT0001.

In addition, you may have to pay the provincial motor vehicle tax when you register the vehicle. Your provincial government imposes and administers this tax, which is separate from the GST/HST.
